Title - Deeper

Avi’s disdain for Noah is barely contained, and Noah does everything he can to restrain himself—a concept he has little experience with.

There’s more between the two than either of them realize. A force looms near, hovering with deadly precision and motivated solely by revenge.

Avi wonders who her new friends truly are and if she’s already in too deep. Noah, accustomed to getting what he wants, will do whatever it takes to draw Avi in deeper.

What I Thought

Two hard headed people are forced to face off. Noah the "Long of New York and Avi, a school teacher meet. There is an attraction for Noah but Avi is having none of it, her protective armour is strong and she wears it whenever she is in proximity to him.
"I'm a paradox, like that flower. Very pretty flower, but also deadly."
Underneath the "i'm just a plain teacher" facade, Avi actually has had a scary life, she hides it well. Noah as also had a tough life, that all turned around when he was getting in trouble as a teenager and a police officer offered him an olive branch. No he's wealthy and reputable and he wants Avi.
"A woman with her arms up and eyes closed distracted Noah. Her body moved sensuously against a man he knew of as a poindexter. His quick scan revealed he wasn't the only one caught in the woman's web of seduction."
Avi stays strong and holds off as long as she can and along their way these two seem to build this chemistry. The back and forth banter is fun and kinda compelling to read. Turns out that even at the opposite ends of the spectrum they have quite a bit in common.

There is a lot going on in this book, but don't worry, no whiplash. It's well paced, well thought out and a good balance of romance, drama, suspense and calm.
"That was her choice, choices are made every day. The consequences weren't always favourable, but one had to be man or woman enough to deal with whatever the outcome was."
