Con Man is a unique novel. I chose this novel because I have read some of T Torrest’s work in the past and loved it. This book showed me why she is such a great writer. This book has a bit of mystery plus a lot of humor and some heat wrapped up in a little bow. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a feel good romance novel with humor.

The plot of this book intrigued me. What I didn’t realize that along with the main plot, there was smaller subplot to the book. That’s where the mystery comes in. This surprised me because I thought I knew where the book was going them BAM! Plot twist at the midnight hour! With that being said, I felt it really added to the story and made it more complex.

Lucas Taggart is the best con man in the business, so to speak.

A former-geek-turned-hottie, Luke is now an image consultant and life coach to the rich and privileged in New York City. His eight-week program is designed to transform ugly ducklings into swans by instilling some much-needed confidence, and hey, a makeover never hurts.

But when Ainsley Carrington signs up as a client, Luke's world is thrown into a tailspin. Ainsley doesn't need an image consultant; her image is already perfect just the way it is. Luke immediately finds himself grappling with his attraction to the introverted beauty as all his old insecurities come bubbling back to the surface.

Thankfully, his new friend Mia is around to help him see that maybe the only makeover needed is on himself. Soon enough, the coach becomes the player as lines get blurred and professionalism gets thrown out the window.

The thing is, Luke doesn't date his clients. Ever. But fighting his desire is proving more difficult than he ever imagined. Especially since the cocky and arrogant "confidence man" has just completely lost his cool.

REVIEW:

The characters in this book are wonderful. Lucas is a hoot. I loved reading through his thoughts. He had a lot going on in his head. I loved watching him grow. Then you have Ainsley. She was an important part of the storyline. There was a lot about her that made you wonder what was going on with her. Of course then you have Mia. She is a little spitfire. I honestly think she was my favorite character. She was someone I could see myself being friends with. Each one of these characters had some growing to do and I loved watching them do it.

The heat in this book was subdued a bit. At first, there was not a huge amount of heat. With that being said, I feel there was a lot of build up going on up to the point of where the major heat started sizzling. I love stories that have slow buildups. I feel it makes the hot scenes even steamier because the reader is truly invested in the characters.

I will admit at first I felt this book was a little slow moving, but in the end it turned out to be just the right pace. This book is told from a single point of view, Lucas. I loved reading his thoughts. I also loved the theme of this book. This book was mostly about perceptions with a secondary theme of forgiveness. I loved the feel good nature of this book and the tone the author wrote in. I also loved how she separated the book into sections based on the weeks in Lucas’ program.

In conclusion, I loved this story. It was such a wonderful romance novel that was also about a man finding himself. I would recommend this book to others. I hope that we get a glimpse of these characters in the future. I would love to see them years down the road in a happy life. I would also love to see some of the minor characters get their own novels.
