My dick never got me in half as much trouble as my heart...

We were high school sweethearts. I was head over heels for her and no one could tell me we weren’t going to last forever. College? Going pro? My family’s money? None of it mattered. She was all I needed.

Then she ripped my heart out. But I’m not going to let that happen again.

She’s back. Invading my life and acting like she was the wronged one. The pain is still there, but I can’t keep my eyes off her. I can’t stop thinking about her and how much was left unsaid between us. Being this close is making me question everything I thought I knew about her.

This time everything will be on my terms. Everything…

“Clearing the air, 5 stars”

Emmett and Avery were once crazy in love. But misunderstandings got in the way and broke what they once had. Even when these two went separate ways they still managed to hold the same friends. This summer truths come out and hate is laid to rest. Will these two be able to start over with each other or is it best to walk away?

So, I even though I have read the other Kings books I had completely forgotten Emmett’s name was Emmett. I kind of dreaded starting Ruthless King because my son’s name is Emmett and well…it could get weird. Lol with that said I loved Ruthless King. Emmett was broody and loyal to a fault. Avery is incredibly strong.

I wanted these two to work through everything like crazy. Emmett and Avery had a cloud of unanswered questions hanging over them and then when they aired it all it was all sunshine. I absolutely loved Ruthless King and didn’t put it down until the very last page. I cannot wait to see what else Hughes has in store for the Kings.

Writing style-5/5

HooooWeeee! Buckle your seatbelts, it is going to be a bumpy ride. Ruthless King is book three in the Kings of Rittenhouse series. If you have read books one and two then you know the two characters this book revolves around. You also know this was a long time coming. Prepare yourself for heartbreak and anger because this book has a lot of it.

The plot of this book was beautifully executed. Two crazy teens madly in love separated by one huge misunderstanding and lifestyles neither one are able to come to terms with. I have been DYING to know what happened between Emmett and Avery. Their hatred of each other only shows how much they cared for each other. Fast forward to present day and that hatred has never lessened. Does that mean the love is still there too?

Avery is the best character I have read in a long time. She is seriously one of the most selfless and caring human beings every created by an authors mind. She has compassion and understanding and is willing to do WHATEVER it takes to take care of her family. That is such an admirable trait. Then you have Emmett. I will be honest. I had a hard time liking him. He was so cruel to Avery at times. He never took the time to understand her. With that being said, reading from his point of view showed me his hurt.  His pain he lived with each day. That really opened my eyes.

The heat between these two never died. Their love might have crossed the line to hate, but that passion only burned on and intensified. Add in a vacation stuck with each other on the beach? Well sounds like to me these two have some issues that are bound to get resolved between the sheets.

The writing style of this book is great. The pace of the story is steady. The story is told from a dual point of view. I liked that we were able to see the past through flashbacks. It was like a final piece of the puzzle was finally put in so we could see the bigger picture. If you think you know about these two, you are wrong.

Overall, this was a great story. I really enjoyed reading about Emmett and Avery. You will get all the answers you need about their story, but you will only get questions when it comes to two of the other characters. I really hope book four is Ford’s book because we need to see what kind of trouble he is cooking up.

Maya Hughes has always loved romance novels. One look at her Kindle is confirmation. She started writing her first romance novel while pregnant with her third child and she hasn’t looked back. Now, her romance writing addiction has replaced her romance reading addiction.

You can find her writing on her foldable keyboard and phone anytime inspiration strikes. Her sweet and steamy stories range from rockstars to small towns and everything in between. When she’s not writing, she’s playing with her three kids, running errands or vegging on the couch with the love of her life and biggest fan, her husband.
