Release+Reviews-Until We Are Gone-Gia Riley

Until We Are Gone, an all-new Standalone Emotional Romance by Gia Riley is NOW LIVE!!

Synopsis:
I wanted a family with Cash.

We had dreams –building a house, kids, a dog, and, yes, even the white picket fence.

Or so I’m told.

I don’t remember anything about my husband. Not the wedding or the vows we shared.

The past ten years were erased and with time, they’re supposed to come back.

But this isn’t your typical case of amnesia

What if I’m not supposed to remember?

What if I was meant to forget?

Maybe I don’t want my old life back.

Because if the accident hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t have uncovered the truth.

Losing my memory wasn’t tragic.

Losing my memory was fate.

Our Review:

“Mind blown, 5 stars”

I read Until We Are Gone twelve hours ago and I’m still trying to figure out what in the flip I read. Riley is known for books with twists but this one was something else. The whole time I was reading I was trying to figure out what I was missing, where was the story going, and what in the world was happening. Then the ending happened and BAM! All the pieces fell into place.
When the ending fell into place I was feeling way too much. I was ticked off for Nolan and Meadow. I wanted Cash and Teddi to go down. I wanted to know details of what happened to Meadow and Cash before. I just had so many questions, but my brain was basically mush.
Twelve hours later and I still don’t know how to properly review Until We Are Gone. I can’t tell you anything from the story in fear that I will give something away. All I can say is if you want a book that will send you for a loop, blow your mind, and make you think what in the flip then Until We Are Gone is a book for you.

Overall-5/5

This was my first time reading a book by Gina Riley. I loved the blurb and was excited to read this intriguing storyline. A story about a woman who loses ten years of her life and has to re-learn who she is now and who she was in love with; sounds provacative... but this story left me confused and underwhelmed.

This book's plot introduces us to Meadow who has been in a terrible car accident which caused minor injuries, but lost her 10 years of memories. Meadow doesn't remember getting married, her job, her husband, who she is at all! So her husband Cash sets a course of action to reclaim his wife's memories and affection. But his actions have repercussions that are far reaching and unknown.

Meadow is a tough character to read and must have been tough to write. She has a lot of struggles and I can't even imagine how she feels. And poor Cash. Her husband has a wife who doesn't remember him or their wedding or life together. But the way the character development was uncovered made me very confused about each character's backstory, current status, moods, and motives.

This book isn't going to set your ereader on fire from the heat between the characters. Which is totally fine, not all books need steamy sex scenes to keep the reader interested, and to me, this type of plot doesn't require them. But we can see Meadow struggle with an interest in her husband, and she has fragments of memories that contain a well written and passionate memory of ardor...but who it's with leaves her in turmoil and with more questions than answers.

I had a tough time keeping into this book. It took me over three days to make myself finish this book. I didn't get drawn into the plot at all. The pace was frustrating as I would enjoy and get pulled into one section, then the momentum would be lost as I got slowed down in the next section. I really wanted to like this book, and read a book with a similar plot (female lead in an accident with amnesia has to re-learn her life) which I totally loved so it wasn't the plot.

I didn't love this book and was so close to not even finishing it, but then I just wanted to figure out the mystery of what happened and who's in love with who. But when I finished, I was left confused and with questions nad feeling very meh about the book. I didn't dislike the book, but I certainly didn't love it. I'm not opposed to trying other books by the author, this book just wasn't my cup of tea.
