Blurb:

Cassie Feld’s world is falling apart. Grieving from the loss of her husband and youngest child, she lives in fear of losing her remaining daughter. She knows she can't protect her alone. There’s a solution, as terrifying and as heartbreaking as she finds it, that will ensure she never has to suffer such a devastating loss again. She needs to sleep with one of the dark fey who rose with the hellhounds. More than that, she needs to become his. She has to give him the one thing she isn’t sure she can. Her heart.

Cassie must figure out a way to set aside her grief long enough to get the deed done. After all, what wouldn’t a mother do to protect her child? Even risk falling in love again.

Jennifer's Review:

Take another trip into this dark, post-apocalyptic world. Man this author does it again. Demon Deception was freaking amazing. Not only did it have the same feel as others in the series, but it also had a storyline that was unique on it’s own. This story has a lot more action in it. It has romance as well. I loved this amazing novel.

The plot of this novel is similar, but different than the others. Cassie Fields is the doctor over at Whitman, a human settlement established in this new world. She has one mission in this world, protect her daughter at all costs. When Whitman no longer feels safe, will she be able to take that leap and except the grey-men’s help?

Cassie is a strong and fierce woman. She has had to face unsurmountable pain in this new world, but she doesn’t let it stop her. She lets it fuel her into being stronger for her daughter. What she doesn’t plan on is Kerr. Kerr is a grey-man. He has only one mission as well. To find a woman to spend the rest of his life with. When he sets his eyes on Cassie, things clarify for him. Will she accept him or will he be doomed to live a life of solitude?

The heat in this book is there, but it is different than the other books. Due to the subject matter of this book, the heat is muted. With that being said, that was the right choice for this book. Heat is great, but only when it feels like it is not forced. I feel like this book was not forced and that this was perfect for Cassie and Kerr.

The writing style of this book amazes me. I loved that the author is able to create a unique story with each new character she introduces. The pace of the book is steady. With each new book, we learn more about the world outside the safe zone. We learn about all the changes occurring in the world, while our people are attempting to stay safe back in Tolerance. I loved this glimpse into the outside world.

Overall, I am in love with this series. I feel like a junkie waiting for my next fix. This world is like no other world I have ever read. I love that it has a Walking Dead feel, but it has also gotten away from that. Things are changing and while it scares me, it also excites me. I cannot wait for the next installment.
