Review - Bright Side (Bright Side, #1) - Kim Holden

So this was the first book I read of 2015, but it took me ages to know what to say in this review.
I know I'm a little late to read this book. Everyone has raved about it for ages. I can remember hearing everyone going on about it being such a tearjerker, and if I'm honest, I was a little put off. I have to be in the right frame of mind for a tearjerker book. It kind of drains me, and makes me feel awful. Anyway, I had to know why this book was pretty much 80% of everybodies fave read of 2014. I hate to be an odd one out, and miss out on the epicness of a book.
So I actually won a copy of this, and I delved in just after Christmas. Now if I'm honest this book took me a while to read, for many reasons. Firstly, it's huge. Like massive page count. Not only that but I had to be able to be prepared for any tears that might start falling. So it did take me a while to get through it.
So I'm not going to summarise the story, as it's one of those stories where once you get told a little of background, you can guess what's going to happen. It's not a bad thing, but it could ruin it for those who want to go in with no knowledge of what's going to happen.
I must admit I had a clue pretty early on, what was going to end up happening. It did leave me quite nervous as to when I would end up blubbing my way through the rest of the story.
The characters in this story were amazing. Like truly addictive characters that you can't help but love every scene that they are in.
Kate, was epic. One of those characters you wish was real, and your best friend or someone you knew. She was absolutely hilarious, completely gorgeous and the most selfless person known to man. I loved her, and she made every scene magical.
Both gorgeous Gus, and adorable Keller are both just as addictive as Kate. They compliment her, and make the story come alive.
The writing was well, epic. lol I will overuse the word. Even the most normal scenes, where nothing is happening was just as captivating as the most traumatic scenes, just because Kim Holden managed to write everything in such an addictive style. I was glued to each page.
Now, I really must point out the fact that this book really will make you cry. If it doesn't, well I'm not sure what else would. This has to be the most emotional book I have probably ever read. I think it's safe to say I was crying from 60% through to the end. My heart was breaking over every page. Now I'm traumatised from all the tears, and have to go find myself a book with fighting or driving, or monsters, or just anything that won't make me cry.
I 1000% recommend this book. It's beautiful and endearing. It wakes you up and makes you appreciate so much of what you have in your life. It also makes you realise how important the little things are. If you love a book that makes you cry, but leaves you with a lasting impression, for like ever. Then seriously go and grab this book. Everyone was right, it was an epic read of 2014.
5 Epic stars.
