Our Review
First of all, I was excited to start reading and find this book set in Australia! The blurb didn't give any hints about that. I'm a big fan of Rock Star Romance, and this book did not let my fantasy down. It's the first in a series; It's not a cliffhanger, but it definitely leaves you wanting to read the next book!
Whole Lotta Love may be a Rock Star Romance, but it's more than that. Reading Sebastion and Juniper's story is about two people finding themselves in a sea of uncertainty and unfairness and loneliness. The plot manages to pull us in to Sebastian's glamorous lifestyle and see the solitude. It shows us Jupiter's quaint hometown and her ailing business but also their need for love and family.
I don't know if I've ever met two more forlorn and despondent characters. They way they met on the cold and dreary beach was a perfect meet-cute for these two. Sebastian has everything he ever wanted, but turns out it's not all it's cracked up to be. Jupiter is a small town girl who is stuck. They both need to bust out of their stereotypes and live life a new way. There's a little bit of each of us in these two. Every one has a little bit of “grass is greener” syndrome and also step outside their comfort zone. Both characters were interesting, well formed, and made me very invested in their lives.
Sebastian and Juniper hit it off in an opposites attract kind of way. They have a lot of pitfalls to navigate, but they do... And when they manage to find their way to each other and find solace with each other, it's everything a good bad boy of the Rock World should be! Girl next door from a tiny town never stood a chance and gets her world rocked!
Amity Cross uses some of the most memorable imagery I've read in a long time! It was a joy to read. I was sucked in and read the whole thing at once instead of parenting. It was fast paced and full of intrigue and contention. The characters were relate-able while still allowing us the dream of a Rock Star.
I loved how this books plot dipped and dived and rose with the character's struggles and choices. I can't wait to read the next book! Bring on book 2 with more Australia, more Beneath, more Sebastian, more Juniper and more from Amity Cross.
