Our Review

Much anticipated follow up for Mandy and Tuttle! You Promised me Forever is technically the first book in a new series, but it is also a follow-up to the Friends series. This book I suppose could be read as a stand-alone, but I highly suggest you go back and read at least More than Friends and Forever from the Friends series to really be able to enjoy this book. You Promised me Forever is the book I didn’t know I needed. I was very happy to be able to follow-up with these two characters.

The plot of this book intrigued me. What happens after the happily ever after? A lot of times we assume that everything works out perfectly for them. I liked that Monica Murphy came back and showed us that sometimes life gets in the way. Happily ever afters aren’t always perfect. This book checks back in with Amanda and Jordan. They are not quite where we would have expected them to be. Will they find each other again or are they destined to live a part?

I have always loved Amanda. She was the only one I really cared for from the Friends series. I loved to see that she grew up a lot since we last saw her. She is strong, independent, and living the best life she can. Enter Jordan. Jordan is the love of her life. I liked Jordan in this book as well. He hasn’t changed too much, but enough to make it worthwhile. I actually really like grown up Jordan. I feel like he is a little bit more stable in life.

The heat between these two have always been there. They always had this push and pull between them, even back in high school. I love how this heat has morphed into something more as they are now adults. Add in the six years they are separated, and you just knew these two were going to combust once they finally got together.

I liked the writing style of this book. I think I love this book more than any of the others with Amanda and Jordan. I liked that we briefly got to check in with Livvy as well, but I never really cared for her that much so I could have took it or left it. The pace of this book is steady. It was perfect for adult Mandy and Tuttle. I liked seeing where they ended up.

Overall, I am so glad I read this book. Mandy was always my favorite character in the previous series. I loved her relationship with Jordan. I thought it was an unlikely pairing, but that they would make it work. Then I found out this book existed. I was happy to be able to see where things ended up. I really liked how the author didn’t make everything peaches and cream. The conflict in this book was perfect.
