OUR REVIEW:
Refuse to Lose is the first book in the Coach’s Love series, this
wasn’t just a 2nd chance love story it told a story of loss,
friendships and how working together as team can make you stronger.
Trystan made a choice, the lesser of 2 evils and paid the price.
Being told he had to become the Baseball coach for a bunch of 11-year-old boys
was not what he had in mind but going to jail wasn’t either. Stella made a
choice for herself and for her son, she needed to feel safe and make a life for
the 2 of them, she pointed her car in West Virginia’s direction and everything
else just fell into place.
Stella is a strong independent woman who hasn’t given up, packing
up her life as she knew it and moving away with only a few possessions, in my
mind makes her strong and courageous. She continued her strength through out
the book making it known she wasn’t a push over. Trystan is a loyal friend
putting others first even though it will hurt him in the long run. He stands by
his motto ‘Refuse to Lose’.
For months they smiled and had a mutual attraction, then finally
after being brought together they never parted. Their chemistry was undeniable
and they had an easy flow relationship which made you want to add them to your
#relationshipgoals board.
This was my first Alison Mello novel and she hit it out of the
park. Refuse to Lose was written with so much thought, it brought up issues
that are very current that as a parent you struggle to deal with. The easy flow
between Stella and Trystan’s point of view was on point and made me feel like I
was part of the ‘mom squad’.
I personally loved this book, I cannot wait to read the next book
in the series Hustle and Heart, which
I can only assume is picking up the story of one of Trystan’s friends/work
colleagues. I hope I don’t have to wait too long.

AUTHOR BIO
Alison started
writing during the early summer of 2015. Her debut book Finding Love (October
2015) was published by Siren Publishing. Her following books Needing Your Love
(November 2015), Found My Love (December 2015), and Fighting for Love (January
2016) were also published with Siren to finish the Learning to Love series.
Her desire to see her books on shelves led to her next work Chasing Dreams
(April 2015) She submitted it for publication with Limitless Publishing and was
thrilled that it was quickly accepted. At the request of her readers she turned
Chasing Dreams into the Club Thrive series. Excited to reach that goal, she
moved on to the next series she had in mind and wrote Saved By a Soldier (June
2016), My Broken Soldier (July 2016), Forever My Soldier (August 2016), and A
Soldier for Bella (September 2016).
Alison enjoyed reading as a child and found her passion for it again in 2011
when E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey was released. Her love of reading was
re-ignited and she continued reading other books in the same genre. In the
summer of 2015, she decided to give writing a try and two weeks later Finding
Love was born. As soon as she finished the first book, she began writing the
second book in the series. Her third book was finished by the time Finding Love
had been accepted for publication. Alison discovered she has a passion for
writing and has spent the last year meeting new readers and sharing the love
she has for writing.
Married to her own real life hero, Alison lives with her amazing family in
Massachusetts where she was born and raised. She loves having her own personal
inspiration right at home and when she’s not writing she enjoys playing soccer,
basketball, and football with her son.
