TITLE - Seeking Sanctuary
Blurb:
One broken girl. Two brothers. One small town with a big secret.
Planning to escape her controlling boyfriend, Isla’s getaway hits a snag when a pair of pink lines show up on a pregnancy test.
Levi just needs an accountant. Someone smart, dependable, and someone who won't blow town and leave him in the lurch. When a pretty but battered woman falls into his arms, he can't help but offer her the job. If only he can convince her to take it.
As an unexpected death rocks this small Colorado town, Isla can't help but wonder if her past somehow followed her to the one place she's felt like home.
Some sanctuaries aren't as safe as they appear...
Louise's Review:
Seeking Sanctuary is the first book in the Shelter Me series, Annie takes you on a journey that is a hard subject that readers may not want to pursue.
“Warning – I warn all my readers that I write for adult. I warn them that I have a trash mouth, write about sex and love, violence and death. I write about life in all its raw glory. You have been sufficiently warned. Here be Monsters – Annie Anderson”
Isla was strong and she knew that she needed to survive if not for herself for the child she carried regardless of the father’s abusive ways. Trusting wasn’t something that came easily, she found the exit and never wanted to look back. Levi worked hard and when he runs into Isla he has the wind literally knocked out of him, he is determined to protect her and keep her close.
Isla and Levi are full of confidence and their natural progression of their relationship reflect trust which leads to their sizzling chemistry. The way they care for each other could give anyone hope for a healthy and happy relationship with someone they love.
This was my first Annie Anderson novel and I was not sure if the domestic abuse plot would be something that I was happy to read, Annie brought a broken young girl out of shadows and turned her into a survivor. She pulled me in and I didn’t want to put the book down reading the book cover to cover in one sitting.
I personally really enjoyed this book, I felt that it could give anyone in a horrible situation the confidence they need to better their life. This book wasn’t just a surviving and getting a HEA it showed all the bumps in the road and brings to light the good that can come of escaping. I am looking forward to the next book in the series Reaching Refuge.
