Release Day Blast & Review - Scotland or Bust - Kira Archer

About the Book:

After dumping her boyfriend, Nicole Franklin impulsively jumps on a plane and heads to Europe. Sure, money and a job would have been nice to line up first. Even a visa, for that matter. So now she has to play tour guide at an Outlander experience for the most obnoxious man on the planet. Until she stumbles into the wrong bed in the middle of the night and wakes up in Harrison’s arms. Now his family thinks they’re engaged, and the entire village is betting on how long before she’ll be running for the hills.

Harrison Troy has a reputation in the town for burning through assistants. And the bubbly new one he’s just hired is likely no different. But his family quickly has them “engaged.” He should be upset, but she’s the perfect buffer for his interfering family. She says she doesn’t need another man in her life--even if he comes with a castle--and that’s fine with him. So why can’t he stop thinking about the woman who is charming everyone in the town, and maybe even him?

OUR REVIEW:

What a fun book to read on a lazy Sunday morning whilst listening to a thunderstorm! Find yourself a comfy spot and curl up to enjoy this fast paced, fun read featuring an extremely positive and adventurous young woman and a staid and handsome Outlander hating English Billionaire.

The book opens with our billionaire Harrison boarding a plane, first class but not private, and finds Nicole his seatmate. Nicole has recently dumped her boyfriend is ready for a life adventure overseas. Only Nicole doesn't have a plan for work or lodging; Harrison finds himself short an assistant. Fate intervenes to keep the seatmates together for the summer. Through crazy family antics and charming English village folk, the two have to deal with their pasts to move forward.

Part of me wants to chastise Nicole for leaving her secure life behind to go on an unplanned adventure; part of me is living vicariously through her. And while I understand the draw to a handsome and rugged man with an accent, I have to question the appeal of a man who doesn't like the Outlander series. Nicole is, as Harrison puts it, “consistently optimistic.” While Harrison starts off a more stereotypical stick-in-the-mud Englishman. Despite their differences the situations they face pull them together. The details provided for both characters make them both endearing and relatable.

“Ever make out with a total stranger, Harry?” Nicole starts the “chemistry” of their relationship off taking Harrison's mind off the plane ride... And the heat only grows by leaps, bounds, and laughter from there. It's a bit of the oldie but goodie, opposites attract. Along with the help of an amazingly loving and eccentric grandmother of course. Their romantic encounters are well written, well timed, and meaningful to the story.

At first Ms. Archer has you believing Harrison is a stuck up and unrelatable Billionaire and you almost don't even want to keep reading to see which bimbo that will fall into his crazy story. Except that Nicole comes in as the endearing girl next door and changes your opinion. Then you meet Harrison's quirky family, and who can help laughing out loud when you read about someone's grandmother running about “with her nibblets and bits waving in the wind?” (try explaining why you are laughing so hard you have tears to your seven year old son on that one!). The well-versed author draws you in with a world of vocab and fast paced plot line.

I had a blast reading this story. It gives hope that optimism, Outlander, and hard work can change your future. And that any man can become a hopeless romantic and Outlander fan. And that no matter one's quirky family, there's someone out there to help you deal with them. May we all be so lucky to find our perfect combination of those things. Love you honey.

Meet the Author:

Kira Archer resides in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kiddos, and far too many animals in the house. She tends to laugh at inappropriate moments, break all the rules she gives her kids (but only when they aren't looking), and would rather be reading a book than doing almost anything else. She has odd, eclectic tastes in just about everything and often lets her imagination run away with her. She loves her romances a little playful, a lot sexy, and always with a happily ever after.
