Beau once knew love, but it fell apart. He feels like he’s to blame a decade though he logically knows he’s not. Beau is running from his past and doesn’t want to face it. He decides to help a family friend fix up her house but finds the house isn’t the only thing being fixed. Will he embrace Charlotte and her quirks, or will he push her to the side?
Charlotte has no family left and it hurts her heart. She spends all her time at her families old Inn and writing stories. Her mind is always fluttering with ideas and thoughts and she channels it into her books. But when Beau shows up she starts to channel all that energy into him. She recognises the look in his eye, because broken recognises broken. The question is she willing to help him move on?
These two were polar opposites who really needed one another to balance each other out. Charlotte reminded Beau not to take life so seriously. Beau reminded her to come up for air and to live in the real world. They both thought they were headed in different directions with their lives but found out they really needed to be on the same path.
I love how protective Beau was but understood that Charlotte was a free spirit. Charlotte wasn’t wanting to take the place of Beau’s past love and accepted her place in his life and I loved that. The secondary characters just upped the ante. These two spent a lot of time alone but when those other people were around they really did make their points known.
It was a beautiful quick story based on finding love for the second time and healing wounds. The past belongs in the past and you can’t carry that baggage with you, and Foster did a great job pushing that point through.
