Review: The Immortal Game
The Immortal Game by Joannah Miley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
I'm still left stunned by just how much I enjoyed this book. I absolutely love anything to with Mythology and have read all sorts of books that take some element of myth into it's back ground but this book took pretty much everything. It was totally packed with information and detail. I loved to read about all the characters from common Mythology to the ones not so common and it was all done in amazing detail. I never felt I couldn't picture anything about it and I loved this take on it all. It didn't feel far fetched or wrong to me.
The main story that sits amongst the Mythology is a couple meeting and (somewhat quickly) falling in love. At first I thought Ash and Ruby's relationship was a bit scary fast but it did seem to work out well and understandable when the background was fully explained and clear.
There never seemed to be a slow or dull moment, the pace was fast but action packed and there was always something happening. It didn't seem like anybody had been missed out in the story. Each famous mythological character had their 5 mins of fame and were done perfect justice.
It felt a little strange to me that Ruby would just up and leave so quickly and give it all up but on reflection I can see that she had nothing to keep her there. Anything important to her was asking her to join him in his life a somewhat better life for her. A great opportunity.
I kept thinking towards the end that it would end with a cliffhanger and I'd have to wait for the next book but surprisingly it was all wrapped up perfectly and I was quite sad to reach the end.
Really enjoyed this book would love to read more.
