Review: Because of Lucy

Because of Lucy
Because of Lucy by Lisa Swallow

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**

I had been waiting to read this for quite a while when I read about it on a blog. I loved the fact that for one it was set in the UK which made a nice change. I also liked how both lead characters had pain and secrets. So I was really excited to see this one come up on read and review.
Vanessa (Ness) has started a job in telesales, a job she hates but has to do to prove a point to herself and her parents who had mapped her life out for her. She moves in with her old friend who has started at uni, so she's stuck in student life without being a student. Hell to some.
During one particular night of partying in her house, she comes home from work and meets Evan, a somewhat normal student off his face. There is something about him but hard to tell. They end up bumping in to each other a few more times due to mutual friends and realise they have some things in common. I like the witty banter between them and the heat is crazy.
It's obvious they should be together but Evan has some demons that keep cropping up and causing probs. So without giving any more away, a fantastic read. There was moments where I was giggling like mad and then alternating with sighing and trying not to cry. It's packed with emotion and frustration. Also quite short so I flew through it as I couldn't put it down. Amazing ending that ticked all my boxes! Loved this book.
