Review: My Own Worst Enemy

My Own Worst Enemy
My Own Worst Enemy by Emma L. Smith

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*** I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

I have literally just finished reading this book right through. I'm still sat thinking about it and a little numb from it. It was such an emotional and shattering story, a roller coaster of intense scenes doesn't even cover it. Right from the first page I was physically unable to stop reading. (Ok I exaggerate, I may have stopped for 5 mins) But I wasn't happy about having to stop for any time!
I don't think I can even include a summary in this review that would do it any justice without giving so, so much away. This book has to be read with no knowledge of what is coming or you won't get the full affect of it.
What I can say is, you will never expect what is coming. But be prepared for an emotional overload.
Right from the beginning it is full of action and heartbreaking intensity. I can honestly say I haven't read a book, that has affected me quite so much as this did in a long time. I can't count the amount of times I was welling up.
It was a truly original story and covered so many harsh and heartbreaking topics. I can't think of anything even remotely negative to say about this book, it had such an impact on me. It felt like everything about the characters and the story held such a passion that is hard to explain. They were raw and real, no pretty fakeness about them at all. Which I loved. I wanted to hear all the characters personal stories, they were all addictive to read. I feel like I need to come back to them again down the line and see how things are going, that's how sucked in to the story I got.
It will blow your mind with such sadness and intense scenes but it is 100% worth it. It's not all hearts and flowers but the amazing relationships that can withstand pretty much anything that is thrown at them are far more satisfying in my opinion.
I must say, after the crazy ride I had with this book. I needed the ending that was coming. It was perfect and left me so satisfied.
Gorgeous and heartbreaking story. Loved every page of it.
