Review: Blood Promise
Blood Promise by Richelle Mead
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Well this book was fantastic and didn't disappoint, but I will say this was the first book in the series where sometimes I got a bit bored. I know, it's hard to do in such an amazing series but I think some parts were dragged out a bit.
So rose walks away from Lissa and St Vlad's, and first I'm thinking, 'why doesn't Lissa do more for her?', it's all about Lissa and really a one sided bond and friendship if you ask me. Rose is her best friend and she is someone who puts Lissa's life before her own and she doesn't seem to want to help her while she's hurting she just asks Rose to stay. Hmm anyway, off to Russia and it was quite slow to kick in and it seems like so many chapters were just dragging along, not really showing anything happening. We meet Sydney sage and learn of the Alchemists but I didn't really like her to start with I don't think she had much of a personality. When Rose goes to Dimitri's home village and meets his family it's all quite sad and important but then when you think she needs to move on in her personal quest, she just hangs about to the point where she's a bit of pain.
So on to the next part and at last, what we have been waiting for Rose meets Dimitri whom is now a strigoi and here starts another quite bizarre part but still quite gripping and it does leave you wondering what's going to happen next.
So that's about where it comes to the end and although I enjoyed reading it and it was important to the series and progression of the story it was also a little lacking and disappointing.
Onward to book 5 and hoping for more excitement, maybe some more Adrian too as he is getting one hell of a raw deal, funding Rose's mission and loving her from afar while she chases her true love.
